What is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?
An Employee Assistance Program is a benefit many employers offer that covers a set number of free, confidential therapy sessions for their employees and often their family members. EAP benefits are paid for by your employer and typically don't show up on your insurance claims.
How do I find out if my Austin employer offers EAP coverage?

Will my employer know I'm going to therapy?
No. EAP sessions are confidential. Your employer pays for the program but does not receive information about who uses it or what's discussed in session, with limited legal exceptions for safety concerns. Your privacy is protected the same as with any other therapy.
How many sessions does an EAP usually cover?
Most EAPs cover between 3 and 8 sessions per issue, per year, but some employers offer significantly more. When you call us, we'll help you confirm your exact session count before you start.
What happens after my EAP sessions are used up?
If you'd like to continue therapy after your EAP sessions end, we can transition you to using your in-network insurance or a self-pay rate. We'll discuss your options well before your final EAP session so there's no interruption in care.
Can my family members use my EAP benefits too?
Often, yes. Most EAPs extend coverage to spouses, partners, and dependents living in your household. Each family member typically gets their own set of covered sessions. Your HR team or EAP provider can confirm the specifics.
