Therapy That Fits Around Colorado Life
Plenty of people in Denver are balancing a demanding job, a long commute, a recent move to the Front Range, or all three. Therapy should make that load lighter, not add to it. That's why we take care of the insurance side and keep scheduling flexible, with in-person sessions in Northwest Denver and secure video for clients anywhere in the state.
We're in-network with UnitedHealthcare and UMR, so your sessions are billed at your plan's in-network rate. Before your first appointment, you'll know whether a deductible applies and roughly what each visit will cost.
UnitedHealthcare or UMR? Here's the Difference
Both names come from the same family of companies, and we're in-network with both. But they work a little differently, and that affects how we verify your coverage.
UnitedHealthcare
UnitedHealthcare is the insurance company. It sets the plan's benefits and pays the claims.
- Who pays claimsUnitedHealthcare
- Benefits set byUnitedHealthcare's plan design
- Colorado rulesPlans sold in Colorado generally follow state insurance law

UMR
UMR is UnitedHealthcare's plan administrator. Your employer pays the claims and chooses the benefits, and UMR processes them.

- Benefits set byYour employer
- Colorado rulesMostly governed by federal law (ERISA), not state mandates
- Mental healthOften managed through Optum, varies by employer
Can't tell which one you have? Look for the "UMR" logo on your card, or just send us a photo and we'll sort it out.

Using UHC or UMR for Therapy in Colorado
Do I have to call Optum before I book?
No. Many UHC and UMR cards list Optum for behavioral health, but you don't have to call them yourself. Send us your card and we'll verify your benefits directly. For routine outpatient therapy, most plans don't require pre-approval.
My employer is based outside Colorado. Can I still use my plan here?
Usually, yes. UnitedHealthcare and UMR plans use national networks, so a plan from an out-of-state employer can often still be used at our Denver office. We'll confirm that your plan's network includes us before your first visit.
Does Colorado law protect my mental health coverage?
Colorado has its own mental health parity law, which applies to insured plans regulated by the state. Self-funded employer plans, including most UMR plans, fall under federal law instead. Federal parity rules still generally require therapy to be covered on terms similar to medical care. We'll tell you what applies to your plan.
Can I see a therapist by video if I live outside Denver?
Yes. Our clinicians offer telehealth to clients anywhere in Colorado, from Boulder and Fort Collins to Colorado Springs and the mountain towns. Most UHC and UMR plans cover video sessions, and we'll confirm yours does.
What if I haven't met my deductible yet?
Until you meet your deductible, you'll pay your plan's contracted in-network rate for each session. That's usually lower than our self-pay price. Once the deductible is met, your copay or coinsurance applies. We'll give you both numbers up front.
Can my partner and I use insurance for couples therapy?
Sometimes. Insurance usually covers couples sessions only when they're part of treating a diagnosed condition for one partner. When that isn't the case, many couples choose our $150 self-pay rate. We'll talk through both options with you.
